EU Sustainable Energy Week to promote energy efficiency in Ukraine
This month, for the first time, Ukraine will join EU Sustainable Energy Week, Europe's key event for a more sustainable energy future. Between 11 and 15 April, the cities of Kyiv, Lviv, Poltava and Kovel will host events to show, promote, discuss and celebrate energy efficiency and renewable energy.
Growing year on year and now into its sixth edition, the European Union Sustainable Energy Week (EUSEW) is the reference event for sustainable energy issues in Europe. It is designed to demonstrate to businesses, decision-makers and the wider public that sustainable energy technologies are viable, cost-effective and good for the environment.
EUSEW 2011 is likely to attract more than 30,000 participants from across Europe and beyond under the slogan ‘Smart energy for a sustainable future’. The Week will largely focus on energy efficiency and renewable energy sources in Europe, with a significant portion of the events dedicated to the European energy market and smart electricity grids.
To date, more than 133 events are already planned during the Week in Brussels and some other 443 across Europe. And the number is growing by the day.
Organized by the EU Delegation to Ukraine and other partners, EUSEW will see a varied programme in Ukraine, bringing together environmental activists, business sector, international community, local and regional authorities – offering an ideal networking and awareness raising opportunity.
