Leading Korean companies are interested in the energy efficiency projects in Ukraine
Leading Korean companies are interested in investment into the energy efficiency projects in Ukraine. It was stated by the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to Ukraine, Mr. Park Ro-Byug on the opening of the round table «Energy Effective Projects in Ukraine».
According to Mr. Ambassador’s statement the Government of Korea has got optimistic look onto the cooperation between the two states in the sphere of energy efficiency. Mr. Park Ro-Byug has also stressed that one of the main impetuses was laid by this year visit of the Prime Minister of Ukraine to Korea, during which there was a proposal to start partnership in the above-mentioned field, along with the stronger cooperation between Korean and Ukrainian companies.
Mr. Ambassador named the first practical step as signing the memorandum on mutual understanding between the National Agency of Effective Energy Resources Use (NAER) and Korean Development Institute, as well as such companies and organizations as SAMSUNG, POSCO, KOTRA and many other institutions are ready to consider the projects for joint implementation.
The Head of NAER, Mr. Sergiy Yermilov, on the other hand, expressed his gratitude to Mr. Ambassador for active and practical development of cooperation. He expressed hope that the round table, in the framework of which the Korean Party has been presented a number of new projects, will pave the way to the practical part of Korean companies, technologies and investment in the energy efficiency programs in our country. Sergiy Yermilov has mentioned that Ukraine has made its choice on the future as the way for energy effective economy. «Until the year 2015 we should decrease the energy volume of GDP on 20%. It is not easy but real. We do hope that on reaching it we will find that the big part belongs to the Ukrainian-Korean partnership», stated the Head of NAER.
The round table «Energy Efficiency projects in Ukraine» was organized by the Embassy of Korea in Ukraine and National Agency of Effective Energy Resources Use (NAER). In the framework of the event there were presented the project of the State Economic Energy Efficiency Program for the years 2010 – 2015 and a number of projects that will be implemented during the Program. Besides, the Ukrainian Party has made a presentation of more then 10 projects in the spheres of household and alternative energy.
Special interest of Korean companies was called to the methane use as alternative energy source, modernization of the municipal energy objects using the innovative technologies and projects on classical fuel substitution to alternatives, that were presented by representatives of the Ukraine Partnership Bureau– Andrey Sukhriabov and MNC PG – Grygoriy Mazur.

Representatives of Korean companies and Embassy of the Republic of Korea in Ukraine have evaluated the efforts and supported the initiative of the Ukraine Partnership Bureau according the foundation of Korean-Ukrainian Cooperation Center, which activity will be targeted to wide spreading the experience of Korean companies to Ukraine and communication development between the business societies of the two countries.
