Foundation of European-Ukrainian Energy Agency (EUEA)
Approach to energy sources, renewable energy and energy efficiency are issues which become more and more important for Ukrainian politics and economy. Meanwhile Europe and the rest of the world are preparing for the Copenhagen meeting in December 2009 to discuss the join efforts in fighting global warming and dealing with environmental challenges.
European-Ukrainian Energy Agency was founded on November 2, 2009 as a platform for uniting representatives from politics, economy and science as well as financial service providers and consulting companies in Ukraine and Europe to deal with common challenges. On the Founder’s meeting, which brought together representatives of Ukrainian Ministry of Agriculture, National Agency for Efficient Use of Energy Resources, European Commission in Ukraine, research institutions, as well as Ukrainian and European business community and non governmental organizations, it became clear that EUEA has a potential for development and making useful contribution to environmentally aware society. Guests discussed the possible priorities for the activities of EUEA, the need to define the challenges and work on solutions. As a result of the meeting the Interim Board until March 2010 was elected, Director appointed and the work officially commenced.
